Farewell To Colorado | John Hiatt

Big news, I've decided to leave Colorado.

In the 7 months since the release of "oh oh", my music career has grown exponentially. Between concerts, film/tv and album sales, I'm now able to shift my focus entirely to touring and recording full time. Over the coming winter I'll start working a new album to be released on sonaBLAST records sometime next year, and am moving to Louisville Kentucky to work and tour out of sonaBLAST's HQ.

I've truly loved the time I spent in Colorado and feel so fortunate to have gotten to make music and learn from so many wonderful, creative people. I want to express my deepest thanks to everyone who has supported me, whether by coming to a show, donating to my kickstarter, taking some lessons or just sharing some insightful conversation.

Thank You.

I will be back for many colorado shows in the future, but there are two big chances to see me play before I leave at the end of October:

Thursday August 30th I have the very large honor of opening for the legend, John Hiatt at Chautauqua auditorium in Boulder.

Saturday October 13th I'll be having my official farewell show at the Hi-Dive in Denver. Click HERE for ticket information.

I hope you can join me for my sendoff show October 13th so I can thank you in person. Stay in touch, KJ.

The Banjo Newsletter

There's a great review of Oh Oh in this month's Banjo Newsletter. I've been a fan of this banjo-centric publication for quite a while so am really happy to be a part of it!

some highlights from the article:

"What makes this record a bit different from many other new acoustic and contemporary folk recordings that include 5-string is, this is excellent 3-finger banjo playing (as opposed to rudimentary frailing or picking or strumming). If you go on YouTube and search for Kyle, you’ll discover that he’s a very competent bluegrass banjo picker, as he demonstrates on a couple of standards. While he uses those banjo techniques on this recording, his music isn't bluegrass, and so his playing isn’t either. Fans of Crooked Still, Nickel Creek, Mumford & Sons and other new acoustic and indie rock bands with banjo will most probably enjoy this, which is well arranged and produced. It features Hauser’s vocals, catchy songs, and banjo playing, which is alternately sensitive and robust, and even thrilling."

Canada, Denver, Kentucky, NYC

Just returned from Toronto where I performed at a showcase for SonaBLAST records in conjunction with the Toronto International Film Festival. Oh yea, I forgot to mention that I signed a record deal with SonaBLAST Records. They're a bunch of swell folks and I'm proud to be working with them to release "Oh Oh". Oh yea, that's the name of my new record, "Oh Oh". It'll be out soon, like, in a few weeks, and I'll be giving away a track right here on my this site very soon so check back.

This Saturday the 17th I'll be playing solo at Swallow Hill Music, which is my new teaching home(you may recognize the faces on their homepage). come find me there.

Next week I'll be flying south to perform at Nulu Fest in Louisville Kentucky. It's the afterparty for Idea Fest, which is neat. I'll be playing solo, and sharing the stage with a bunch of my SonaBLAST friends. neat. neat.

Then in October I'll head over to NYC to play a showcase for CMJ at Rockwood Music Hall(Oct. 20th). I'll also be joing my old pal Will Knox on stage for his CMJ showcase later that night and next door. seriously.

we stand at a threshold friends, well, I do for certain.

I'm very ready for you to hear.
